Nudging for Good – Applying Behavioral Insights for State Government Agencies

During the session we will provide an overview of behavioral insights with applicability to state government agencies.  The session will introduce how behavioral insights are being applied in a diverse set of public policy areas to improve outcomes in a low cost way.  We will explore case studies in a deeper dive with applications at the state and local level.

Shrupti leads Deloitte’s Behavioral Insights Practice and has written extensively on how behavior insights can help policy makers improve the outcomes of their policies and programs. She is also a performance management and public policy specialist with 20 years of experience in the public and private sector. Her expertise has been sought by Governments, the International Labour Organization (ILO), World Bank and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). She has led programs at the European Commission, the United Kingdom’s (UK) Treasury and Department for Work and Pensions and represented all three at international and national fora. Shrupti holds degrees from Oxford University and the London School of Economics. She completed her training at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard.

Mike is a data scientist and practicing behavioral insights expert with Deloitte Consulting, focusing on improving outcomes for public sector agencies at the federal, state, and local level.  Mike is passionate about the confluence of analytics and behavioral insights and believes that evidence based decision making can lead to significant improvements in governance and outcomes for citizens.  Mike has a degree in Mathematics from the University of Chicago and has a Masters in Statistics from Harvard University.
