Lean Fellow

Looking ahead:

Using Lean tools and techniques, including visual management and daily huddles, to lead the planning of the Lean Transformation Conference.

“My time facilitating value steam mapping events led me to view things from more of an organizational view of change.“

Ayanna Colman joins the Results Washington team from Department of Social and Health Services Division of Child Support where she most recently spent time as a Policy Manger, working as a liaison between her office and the Office of the Attorney General. Ayanna is an attorney at law who graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2010 and has spent much of her time since working in different law related positions.
Her passion for the law and personal development drove her in several directions throughout her career; from working for the City of Tacoma’s Prosecutor’s Office, to spending time in family law helping families seek justice.
Ayanna was with DSHS during the initial push into doing Lean projects which helped motivate her to practice continuous improvement. Her experience facilitating value stream mapping events now has her looking at all things from an organizational view of change, and she wants to improve services for both customers of the state and state agency staff members.
As a lifetime sorority member of Alpha Kapa Alpha, Ayanna works on many community service projects, helps raise funds for scholarship programs, and organizes sorority events regularly.
Ayanna is a huge Seahawks Fan, enjoys helping others, and even teaches financial planning classes sponsored by the nationally recognized Financial Peace University in her spare time. She is also currently involved in the legal leadership fellowship called the Washington Leadership Institute, where she works closely with Supreme Court justices and other legal leaders on becoming more than simply a good attorney but a great state leader.
