Why is this a priority?

A high school diploma is intended to signal that each student is prepared for postsecondary education, gainful employment and citizenship (RCW 28A.150.220).

How are we doing?

4 year graduation rate

  • Class of 2013 = 76%
  • Class of 2014 = 77.2%
  • Class of 2015 = 78.1%
  • Class of 2016 = 79.1%

5 year graduation rate

  • Class of 2013 = 79.9%
  • Class of 2014 = 81.1%
  • Class of 2015 = 81.9%
What are we working on?
  • Graduation: A Team Effort is an OSPI initiative that began in the Spring of 2011 to align dropout prevention, intervention and reengagement efforts across OSPI, as well as other state agencies, statewide youth-serving organizations, and regional and local education agencies.
  • Dropout Prevention, Intervention, and Reengagement Inventory is a resource for peer sharing of effective strategies, programs, models, and partnerships that engage students, support academic and social/emotional needs, and create educational momentum for secondary and post-secondary success.
  • Integrated Student Support Framework is a tiered, whole child approach to dropout prevention, intervention and reengagement.
